Privacy Policy
We respect your right to privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: 5 August 2026
Welcome to Islamic Knowledge. This Privacy Policy should be read alongside our Terms and Cookies Policy. Unless otherwise defined here, terms have the same meaning as in the Terms.
1. About us
In this Privacy Policy, references to “we” or “us” are to Islamic Knowledge, a company incorporated in England and Wales whose registered office is at 36 Harwood Gate, Blackburn, BB1 5HP, who will be the controller of any personal data processed as described in this Privacy Policy.
If you have questions about your personal information, please use our contact form or email info@islamicknowledge.co.uk.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Website and our Online Courses and Content hosted at islamicknowledge.co.uk (and related subdomains), including the learner dashboard, video player, store and account areas.
3. Collection of information
When you access the Website, use Online Courses and Content, register, post notes or other material, respond to surveys, provide feedback, or make a purchase, we may collect, store and use certain personal information in line with this policy. We may also ask for information when you report a problem.
To register or make a purchase we ask for your name and email address. When you pay, our payment provider (Stripe) collects and processes your card or other payment details. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
We may also collect usage data relating to your visits that cannot identify you on its own — for example how long you use the Website or courses — and your computer’s IP address to help tailor the service to your location and protect the platform.
4. Use of your information
By accessing the Website, using Online Courses and Content, registering or purchasing, you agree that your personal information may be collected, stored, used and shared by us or third parties we work with, for purposes including:
- to provide, maintain, protect and improve the Website and Online Courses and Content, including anonymised research, and to protect us and our users;
- to provide a personalised browsing experience and fulfil contracts with you;
- if you have paid for an Online Course, to send details of other products and services that may interest you, unless you opt out;
- to tailor advertising on social media to your use of the Website;
- to manage your learner account and allow full use of platform features;
- to send course-specific email notifications and updates about courses you are enrolled on, and to comply with legal and regulatory requirements;
- to contact you occasionally to invite feedback on Islamic Knowledge and our courses.
You can control email preferences in your account settings, and unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link in those messages.
5. Storage of information
Information is stored on secure servers operated by our infrastructure providers. When you register, you choose a password that enables access to Online Courses and Content. You are responsible for keeping that password confidential and must not share it.
We (or third parties acting on our behalf) may store or process information outside the United Kingdom / European Economic Area, which may have different data-protection standards. Our application is hosted on Vercel; primary application data and authentication are provided by Supabase; video is delivered via Bunny Stream. We use technical and organisational security measures to help prevent loss or unauthorised access. Transmission over the Internet cannot be guaranteed as completely secure.
6. Legal basis for processing
Our legal basis depends on the information and context. We normally collect personal information (i) with your consent, (ii) where needed to perform a contract with you, or (iii) where processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your rights. In some cases we may have a legal obligation to collect information.
Where we rely on consent, contract necessity, or legitimate interests, we will make that clear at the relevant time where practicable.
7. Processors and disclosure
We may disclose personal information when permitted by law, including:
- with your consent;
- to suppliers who help us provide the service, including in particular:
- Supabase — authentication, database and file storage for accounts, progress and content metadata;
- Stripe — payment processing and billing;
- Bunny Stream — streaming of course video;
- Resend — transactional email (enrolment, receipts, password and account messages);
- Mailchimp — mailing-list / newsletter subscriptions where you opt in;
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery;
- Upstash — rate limiting and related operational safeguards;
- customer-support and file-storage tools if you email us directly.
- if all or substantially all of our assets are acquired by a third party that continues to use your information substantially in accordance with this policy; and
- if we must disclose or share information to comply with a legal obligation, enforce our Terms, or protect rights, property or safety — including fraud protection.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information where we have an ongoing legitimate business need (for example to provide a service you requested, or to meet legal, tax or accounting requirements). When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymise it, or securely isolate it until deletion is possible (for example where held in backups).
9. Your rights
You can edit personal details via your profile where available. You may also object to processing, ask us to restrict processing, or request portability of your personal information by contacting us.
You may unsubscribe from certain emails via the unsubscribe link, update details in your learner account, or email info@islamicknowledge.co.uk to access, correct, delete or update your information. We will respond as promptly as practicable.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out, or processing on other lawful grounds.
You have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
The Website may contain links to third-party sites with their own privacy policies. Check those policies before submitting personal information to those sites.
10. Children
We do not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from persons under 13, and no part of the Website is directed to persons under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Website. We will take appropriate steps to delete such information if we become aware of it.
11. Cookies
The Website uses cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookies Policy for details. Refusing cookies may limit some functionality.
12. Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy to comply with law or changing business requirements. Material changes will be communicated in a manner consistent with their significance. Updates will be posted on the Website. Continued use after an update means your access is subject to the revised policy.
